Sowing Seed in Nicaragua

by Jason Bollinger on July 21st, 2015

Early this morning these wonderful people eventually found their way to Nicaragua. This is a team from the O2 Church Network which is being led by some folks from our longest standing partner church, The Abbey Church in Azle, TX. Paul (in light green in the way back) & Perrianne Brownback (front right - also in light green) are the pastors of The Abbey, and Paul is also one of our Links USA board members.

Also heading up this trip are Cliff and Cassandra Weaver (on the right - behind Perrianne) who are consistently involved in serving Nicaragua. When I went to Nicaragua in February, it was at Cliff's invitation. Cliff and Cassandra lead InFocus Missions and are the mission leaders for the Abbey.

The work this team will be doing includes serving Pontis and The Hope Project. Pontis is led by Leck & Cynthia who are training folks in sustainable farming. The training culminates with being set-up on a 2 acre farm that will provide fair living wages for the families who are farming. The first model farmhouse was built a couple months ago, and this team will help get the farm ready for action.

It came to our attention that there was a need for money to buy the first seeds and crops for this project. We immediately felt like sowing the first seeds into this project was a good investment for the Kingdom. So, along with this team, goes funds from Links to plant what will be the first-fruits of this farm. That fruit will multiply and help many families have consistent income again and again through the ongoing work of Pontis.

The team will also be working with The Hope Project who facilitates a child nutrition program that has expanded into community outreach, community development, and micro-business development.

Please pray for our friends as they serve our other friends this week. They are going to be a part of some important work, and we're excited to be a part of it. Pray also for the ongoing Kingdom work in Nicaragua. These are great people doing great things.
