Uganda 2014 - NEW CONNECTIONS!

Posted on December 19th, 2014

We call ourselves "Links" for a reason. Our desire is always to connect people with people, places or projects that facilitate healthy partnerships. We accomplish so much more when we work together than when we work alone. In addition to serving Wellspring on this trip, we were able to make some new connections that we will be partnering with in the near future.
Water for All is working in Eastern Uganda where they are teaching local families to dig their own water wells. In the villages it is not uncommon for people to have to walk for miles to a water source. Having a well on their own property is literally life-changing.

Collin and Ronnie have been in Uganda for three years, and in 2014 they have overseen the drilling of over 100 wells. That's 100 families whose lives have been changed just this year. They have hit an amazing stride, and they will drill even more in 2015. Their heart for empowering people is something we have in common, and the work they're doing is great.

We are hoping to partner with them in 2015 by providing water filters for families in their area as well as healthcare and sanitation training.

If you would like to buy a water filter system, they only cost $75 each. That one filter kit provides 99.99% pure water for up to 200 people for two years. It's a great solution that we are using all over the world. You can give here (account 1015 Water Kits) to invest in this opportunity.
Attack Poverty is based 15 minutes from where we live in Texas. In addition to serving neighborhoods here, they are working in a village in Uganda as well. Their initiative is called Friends of Uganda. Their programs of community development are well done and like-minded with Links. When I met with Brandon about their work in Texas, we discovered that we would be in Uganda at the same time. More than that, we found out the next step for their work in Rushere is something that our partners at Wellspring do very well. From a coffee shop in Texas to a coffee shop in Kampala, a partnership was born. Wellspring is now going to partner with Friends of Uganda in the area of Micro-Enterprise and Business Development.

It's amazing how quick of a connection this was and how well the pieces fit together. When you live missionally, you believe that God was already at work before you got there and you are just joining in on what He had already begun. This was a great example of that. We are excited about the possibilities of this partnership and believe it well strengthen the work of both organizations.

We always ask people to do at least one of these three things. We would covet your prayers about these new relationships. Please pray for these beautiful people and the work they are doing. Please pray for us as we seek to be facilitators of healthy partnership. We would also be grateful if you would consider investing financially into our general fund. Being available to facilitate and empower community transformation requires finances to travel, host meetings, and supply partners with effective materials, etc. Finally, if you would like to go on a trip with us, please let us know. We will let you know about upcoming trips that would be a good fit for you and connect you with our application process.

Thanks for following along with the work the Lord has put before us. It is an exciting time!
